We will try to tell you how to choose a pyrometer, in other words - an infrared non-contact thermometer. To get started, you need to decide for the purpose of purchase - what problems you want to solve with a pyrometer? Based on this principle, we will divide into three categories: applied measurements, production (industrial) and scientific work. Obviously, the first category is the most massive and therefore affordable.

Pyrometers designed for simple application tasks have a low price and average technical characteristics. All models of this class, regardless of the value and brand are manufactured in China. American and European manufacturers receive these pyrometers from Chinese factories, they may indicate the country of production, or they may not disclose this information. This happens after the fact, we will not consider legislation. We will not consider and producers coquettishly silent or blatantly distort this information.

Historically, the legislators of fashion in “pyro-construction” are Americans, the first patents and the mass production of pyrometers started there in the 60s. Later, European companies were involved in the process, but it can be stated that at present all production lines of cheap pyrometers are concentrated in China (we call models up to $ 1,000 cheap). This is due to many factors: various legislative norms, taxation, environmental standards, labor costs, raw material costs and the provision of production.

All of the above does not mean that Chinese factories belong exclusively to American and European companies and individuals, but basically this is true and this is due to the ownership of intellectual property. In fact, it is often impossible to determine the real owner, as the chains can be complicated, this is a consequence of tax legislation. One way or another, but when we talk about the quality and price of the pyrometer, the factor of the country of production should be excluded from the selection criteria. Today in China, pyrometers are manufactured at prices ranging from $20 and up to $1,000, obviously, they will have different consumer properties and price.

Consider what is the price of the final product, in this case - the pyrometer. Simplified, this scheme looks like this: the cost of raw materials + production costs + cost of labor + factory profits + taxes in the country of production + transportation + customs duties + seller's profits + taxes in the country of sale. If quality control is exercised in the country of sale, then a couple more points are added to this scheme - the cost of labor in the country of sale + the cost of production costs.
